No answer, unfortunately, a question. Anyone have experience reviving someone who has just been choked out? I figure this is good info for everyone in our sport to know since it is more than likely we will encounter it eventually.

The reason I bring this up is because I saw some fights a couple of weeks ago where a guy was choked out but they took a long time to revive him, and for some reason it took him a LONG time to get up (like 30 min). He got up a lil but they took him to the hospital on a stretcher. Usually ppl come back quickly and without problems, maybe this guy had some medical issues, who knows.

So, what is the best way and method to revive someone? Any documentation would be welcomed as well.

i've seen and heard to lift their feet in the air to help get blood back to the brain.

Yeah, you are right. Hang em like a fish. They'll come back quicker. The bigger teh dude, the longer it takes and they won't remember shit. It's funny to watch. Be careful with that stuff though, I imagine some people have died from that. Don't know of any but cutting blood off to your brain is not healthy.

The first one is if they are wearing something with a belt on pull up on the belt toward the diaphram. This one is usually all that is needed. If that doesn'r work, do what Shagy suggests cross the arms across the bodya and push the feet so the knees go toward the chest. This acts like a billows and forces air into the bloodstream. If neither of those two work dial 911 and start CPR.

It has never gotten that far for me with one notable exception when someone recieved a kick to the inside of the thigh. This individual was very unresponsive and could not be roused via a chest rub, either of these two techniques or even smelling salts.

Good point if you are not under regular instruction do not try to apply chokes. They are much to dangerous for garage / backyard training.

its pretty easy.. you want to do two things... make sure they wont bite their tongue (tilt the head back), and be there in case anything bad were to happen (spasms, or puking). ive seen people get choked out a lot, and thankfully they all wake up within a couple of seconds.. a few have bitten their tongue though since they seem to clinch down with their teeth when theyre sleeping.

Don't ever do CPR unless they don't have a pulse or aren't breathing.

I know it seems like an obvious thing, but you'd be surprised how many people want to start doing CPR on somebody unconscious.

If they are unconscious, check to make sure they are breathing. If they are, then everything is cool so I just wouldn't bother messing with them too much. They will wake up eventually, and they are not going to have any brain damage as long as they are breathing properly.

If it seems to be taking way too long, you can call some paramedics I guess, but definitely don't be doing stuff like CPR when they are already breathing. Just leave them alone until the paramedics come.

There you have it.
