Anyone watch The Matrix recently? It's pretty underwhelming. now that fx is pretty dated. now that we are no longer blown away by them it makes the weak acting, plot holes, and bad characters(Trinity falls in love with neo when they have no chemistry?wt?) more obvious. I only saw the first one. I thought it was good but the characters I just didnt care about and story was something I thought was weak. Another annoying aspect of The Matrix is that conspiracy morons love to quote it and spout off their the world is a lie theories.

I tried to like it when it came out, but I just couldn't get into it. It feels like the precursor to Inception in that really dumb people try to make it more intellectual than it is. The first one was okay, and the other 2 were snoozers.

It's good in a popcorn action movie kind of way. It's silly when people think it's deep or intelligent.

I enjoy it, never was one of those people that glorified it.

Love the first one. Tolerated the second one. Despised the third one.

The first one is a B+ movie, A- action movie.

The other ones were B+ action movies, and B- movies. They could have picked up where the first left off more smoothly for sure. The Wachovski 'its' had a decent idea, but then their potential fruityness started to show. None were 'bad' movies, imo.

I haven't seen it in many years, but watched it a fuckton when it was new. Even though it's a baseless statement, I'm gonna say it still holds up, dammit!

Not a bad movie. Not a great movie. The thing that really pissed me off about the series is when the in the second or third movie the oracle smokes cigarettes but doesnt exhale any smoke! Ruined the whole thing for me.

I liked the 1st one, though I haven't seen it in a few years, so I may watch it again to see if it leaves me feeling the same way it did the TS.

Can't remember much about the second one and I fell asleep in the theater during the 3rd one. Though to be fair, I fell asleep during the last Star Wars and LOTR movies too. I stopped going to the movies, if I worked that day, because it's usually lights out for me in the theater.

That film series changed the way action movies looked. It's like early John Woo's effect on Hollywood action movies. Every action movie wanted to use the camera techniques and special effects that the Matrix used. I thought the first one, even with all it's imperfections, was a great film. The next two just completed the story of the series, but weren't as good as the first film.

I have a higher opinion of the second movie than most. Aside from the excessive special effects during the freeway sequence, I thought it was awesome. I also think the movies hold up just fine.

Its a solid movie but at the time people in real life acted like keanu was really going through portals and shit. Was about the time I really thought leo died in titanic. Times were different. Little bit of both ts

There's no such thing as a movie that doesn't show it's age. I'm smart enough to put a film into the context of the time it came out and for the time, it was the most exciting and innovative movie out in theaters. A complete thrill ride, and while some of the "coolness" has worn out by 2015, it was a ballsy leap in 1999 and engaging from start to finish.

Or maybe I'm just biased because I was young when it came out and blew me away. It has been close to my heart as movie geek ever since.

Well, there's a movie that came out about 8 years earlier that is still one heck of a movie and the fx still look decent now, 23 years later...Terminator 2
