Greetings and salutations readers! In this review I'll be covering Ring to Cage's Geltech Cobra Curved Punch Spar-Mitt. I ordered these after I ordered the Geltech Thai pads when I realized how safe and useful the gel padding portion was. I wanted something that was a little lighter and mobile for boxing so I bought these bad boys. They're half curved, half gel, and a whole lot of mitt!

What I find weird that Ring to Cage does is how it changes the color schemes of their gear. The Thai pad versions of the mitts are gray and black but the focus mitt version is green and black. If you're looking for a set of matching equipment you might be disappointed. I would have loved the Geltech equipment to be all the same color since it's the same concept. I dig the green and black but next to my Geltech Thai pads they look out of place. Fortunately the same things I loved about the Geltech Thai Pads are present in these mitts. The gel padding, the hood, the materials, and the cleverness are present but in a smaller package.

I can't believe that other companies haven't thought of this. The main difference between these focus mitts and every other pair of focus mitts on the market is that these are very light and has a gel foam pad sewn to the top of them. It's genius! They're made for tapping, touching, slapping and imitating punches. If someone is dropping their hands or not returning them after a combination a little slap will remind them that next time it could be a fist instead of a pillow. It doesn't hurt a lick when you get hit with it and the best part is that I can throw fast without having to worry about backing off as much thanks to it's soft and cushy padding. The punching surface isn't any smaller than any other curved mitt leaving lots of room to land punches and elbows, but if the occasional shot strays upward the gel padding protects the fingers from bending backwards. What about that

you didn't give them a deduction for lack of "pop" upon impact of gloves??

Another good review man, I have those mitts but without the tap pad. I love them, Mark is right though they dont have as much pop as my titles but they are light and take 99% of the shock out. I dont think R2C was the first, I remember seeing these from Ringside a long while back. Soft Strike Boxing Punch Pad - Boxing Gear - Ringside Boxing Any who props on the review and the detailed pics as always:)

^ which titles do you have?? One of my favorite mitts now are the project discipline micro mitts since they're not too small but they offer a good pop everytime you land a punch.

The $30 incredi-ball mitts, not the best but hard to beat for price and they have lasted a long time with minor wear. I don't have any PD stuff but I think if MMAHQ gets something up soon I might pick em up.

Late to the party but I still think that RTC has a better one that allows you to slap and poke the hitter. The Ringside just looks like it can only poke at the hitter. I guess I should review it? LOL :)

Yeah I think the R2C are more versatile plus I usually like to buy from a smaller company rather than a larger one if they have a comparable product. You should still buy the Ringside anyway just to keep up the gear junkie theme :)

+1 on reviewing gear from smaler companies..

Clamp, you might wanna try the PD micro mitts. all my coaches who used it love it.
