Retest done on doping in olympics 2008/2012

That's disappointing. It sorta makes me not care about sports when so many are cheating.

I thought they typically keep samples for 10 years or something because r doping techniques are always a few years ahead of the testing technology

they probably kept fresh blood sample and utilized new methods for detection they couldn't have picked up before. This will greatly affect sports because they caught quite a few champions. See what happens next.

I would be surprised if they have the balls to retest guys like Bolt and Phelps who give them tons of exposure and money. Probably only retesting some poor fuckers from less popular events.

The NFL is like that also. Last season we hear about HGH sent to Peyton Manning's home. Supposedly for his wife. But the NFL probably doesn't want to truly investigate that because he was a spokesman for the league.

Using HGH at his age, after neck surgery.

What a fucking demon.

Those are your words.

I don't like the hypocrisy. If you're gonna test and go after the lesser athletes, you should test and go after the celeb athletes also.

Pretty sure samples are selected at random

At least Dimas is coming back.

Honestly i could care less. People always wanna see old records being smashed and want these athletes to put there bodies through hell and back for national pride but the moment they find out some of these people are doping they act as if their world has come crashing down.

Pretty sure samples are selected at "random"

Fixed that for you

if they instituted a thorough and broad testing policy for all athletes, Rio will have the fewest records broken of any Olympic games since 84.

It will be interesting to see if average performance across events is lower.

things get weirder. This Instagram post is froim Sedov and he says in this post that Iliya betrayed him somehow...

I don't think you SHOULD care less, even if you apparently COULD!

No, PED's are effective enough that a natural fighter is at a large disadvantage against an "assisted" (that's how users refer to themselves) fighter.

Problem is with drugs most of the time the more you use the larger the effects, which turns the sport into a chemistry competition. Happened to pro bodybuilding and would happen to the UFC.

Are PED approved sports more spectacular, yes. Are they "fairer", no, as adding quality of drugs into the requiem for a fighter results in it becoming more about who can use the most and the best, not about skills, conditioning or heart.

Of course they have an advantage no one is arguing that. But i feel you're under estimating how much high level competition necessitates its use. Not all the time but certainly a huge portion of the time. If you understood what these people put their bodies through to deliver what you see on TV you would understand that a large percentage of the world would die trying to emulate them.

This simply isn't true as you have laid it out. You cant simply pump your body with PED's and expect to become Mr.Olympia because of it. Being a high caliber athlete is is a concoction of many different ingredients intertwined. Among them are discipline, work ethic, consistency and of course genetics. Genetically a person who could be anatomically perfect for their sport but when it comes to bodybuilding the genetic component is actually more about how well an individual recovers from his cycles, As well as the insertions of the muscle and how "aesthetic" they seem. If we followed this logic we could assume either me and you could simply pump ourselves up and become champions over night while over looking the component of luck that no amount of steroids could solve. Which we know is bull shit.

Im sorry but this comment is absurd. Again you are reinforcing the idea that things like "skill" and "conditioning" are all of a sudden irrelevant when one administers some sort of PED. Those are way more important to have if you plan on competing in the olympics or in the UFC. And its not who can use the most, it's who can get away with it. This comes down to the compound they use and how detectable it is as well as the politics behind the governing body. Many people test positive and never get reported for it. So a lot of things are not fair but its an unfortunate reality that certain sports wouldn't exist in there current state with out PEDs. Like no one natural is breaking Usain Bolts record, no gold medalist in olympic weightlifting is natural, do you watch football? The NFL is so lax on PED usage that they only check every so often so its not blatantly obvious to the public. But trust me if lived their lives you would be begging for some.

Well yes obviously someone trying to compete in a sport filled with people using PED's "would be begging for some" just to survive the training, that's part of the issue, they are so effective that their usage in an event means anyone not using them will be at too a disadvantage.

Basically if PED's are allowed NOT using is not an option as you will never be able to compete with those on. You say "you can't just inject and be as fast as bolt", and I agree, since the mid 60s sports haven't been clean and the level of comp has surpassed what is achievable naturally.

That's also why they need confirmed natural leagues, Steve reeves wouldn't get his pro card today, he's too small. Despite no natural bodybuilder surpassing his physique yet. His "aesthetics" and amazing genetics etc mean nothing compared to the size of someone (with good genetics but obviously nowhere near reeves) using PED's. Obviously BB is a sport that's genetics+drugs+training= success. Sports like MMA require skill but PED's allow for more training which results in more skill which means it's still massively unfair for naturals to go against users.

Your argument seems to be "what they do requires PED's", but it really doesn't. Sure, they could be much better if the used PED's but when do they draw the line? Stacking test/HGH/EPO? What drugs and in what dosage results in the best result in the athlete? It becomes a chemistry competition.
