I actually find this place to be the steakhouse equivalent of a Denny's - it's the generic, pricey, not that great version of better steak houses. You're in Van, right? Try Hy's or Gotham's - they shit all over The Keg.

El Torito sucks. But I'm in California and there are legit taquerias on pretty much every block.

The closest I get to El Torito is walking through the parking lot of the one on Cannery Row in Monterey to go scuba diving.

I live in Cali and I know good mexican food. It's not great mexican, but it's consistent. It's hit and miss with hole in the wall mexican no matter where you go. My wife is half mexican so her cooking is better than most hole in the wall places. If you haven't had it in the last 10 years I would try it. I think they hired a firm to perfect their food. I couldn't eat it 15 years ago. I was invited 10 years ago and I was pleasantly surprised.
