For a long time now I've wanted to create a resource for coaches to learn more about training methods and running a class. Thanks to the magic of the internet, it's been easy to build this right into Aesopian.com by creating a Coaching section. You'll find my favorite articles on instructing, coaching, running a class, etc. here.

To kick off the new feature, I've added an all new, never before seen article called Responsive Coaching:

I'd love to hear from any coaches or guys who run clubs on what kind of content they'd like to see. There's more to BJJ than just the techniques, and I'd like to offer it.

I added some more article on coaching and training methods. These are the one that have helped me a lot.

good deal man! i just started to help coach the lighter weight classes at this new high school with my old high school's coaching staff and a couple guys that were pretty good when i was in high school...and i never really instructed people before, this will help out a bunch *click, subscribe*

i'm not a coach, but i do run a club. responsive coaching is a fantastic article especially the point "roll with everybody." that's how you get to know your guys. also i checked out a bunch of other articles. it's all really nice stuff. one i was reading is What is Aliveness, i did find something funny in it:

"that attitude prevents growth and produces fear. Fear leads to anger, and anger "...Leads the the dark side!!!!

We all know your real reason for training is to become a jedi.

you wouldn't do sh*t kidfreeze, he would choke you out by pointing at you

Thanks whery whery apreciated, I am one at the coaches at a small time starting up subgrappling club and also study to become a history teacher so I spend a hell of a lot of time trying to figure these kinds of things out.

Your material is just fucking gold (or was it awesomeness???);)

I dont know, maybe its just me but I found this little quote from one of the articles to be an absolute nugget of gold:

"7. Give away all your best stuff.

All those tricky sweeps and cool submissions that you hit all the time- give them out. Show the counters. I used to be afraid that if I gave out all my good stuff I’d have nothing good left to give out. Or somehow everyone would start killing my game. What I’ve found is that it motivates my game and keeps me from being stagnant. As long as you are actively coaching and learning you won’t run out of stuff. Won’t happen."

.....Pure awsomeness...

Again, great post. I feel like I should be giving you money or something. LOL.

Seriously (I have no money), I learn a lot from those materials even though I'm not a coach. I learn how to think like one and how to break moves down into an easily expainable series of steps and how to integrate that slowly into my training so that they become effective. Good job.
