Just finished the game today. They really need to return back to its horror ways. I jumped a few times when zombies appeared around corners. The game was beautiful to look at. I can't wait for resident 2 remake in the works.

Yeah, it was everything you could hope for in a HD remake.

Those crimson heads made life tense as a shit though.

RE remake is my second favorite (beat it on gc and 360) behind RE2. I hope RE2 i treated with the care it deserves.

The old Resident Evils are so much better than the newer ones

Revelations 1 and 2 are pretty solid. 5, 6, Raccoon City went off the rails, even 4 to some extent i don't love it as much as others.

Revelations was ok. It still felt like an action shooter.

One of my favorite series. I just bought digital version on sale for $13. Can't wait to play it. Its been like 20 years since I played the original lol.

Revelations was cool but the co op in part 2 was so limited.

RE4 is in my top ten all time games.

Yesterday was the 20th anniversary of RE. I still prefer the original to the remake because of the difficulty, soundtrack, and voice acting.
Revelations 2 is the only "modern" one I like and that's mainly because of the fan service.

The PC version of REmake HD is the best because you can install door skip and original voice acting mods. #MasterRace

I liked RE5 I thought it was really good. 6 was horrible because I think zombies with guns is stupid.

I really wanted to enjoy the RE Remake, but the the camera angle and controls ruined the experience. If they remade the game without the pre-rendered environments, I think I would be much more interested.

Like @method115 said, RE5 was actually really enjoyable. If they could use that interface but use the original RE story line, it would be a must buy for me.

Same here. I really wanted to like the REmake to but the camera and controls were just to outdated and annoying. Like you said I wish they would have updated it to the RE5 format but the original story/levels.

The newer RE installments like five and six show that you can make terrible games, but add coop and it's still pretty fun.

That's at least my takeaway.

I think if you didn't experience the tank controls at that time, it's probably very hard to get into those games. It's an incredibly archaic control scheme and an artifact from a time where they were still figuring out 3D button mapping. Personally I think the tank controls are part of what makes it survival-horror whereas 4 and onwards play more like an action game. I'm not really sure how Capcom can go about preserving the feel of the old games while having a reasonable control scheme because the series started to lose its magic with 4, which was a great game but led the series down a road that I'm not a big fan of. Tank controls kinda reinforce the concept that your character is not a badass and should run instead of fight when possible whereas I always feel like I can steamroll everything in the newer games.

I like the camera angles. Was scary hearing the zombies around corners but not able to see them.

I'll admit I do like that aspect of it but other then that I don't like it.

See i like 2 a lot more, but i respect that. Most people love RE4, i simply like it a lot.

Funny to think that back in the 90s, we were complaining about the tank controls and pre-rendered enviroments.

Then Capcom ditched them, and now we really want the tank controls and pre-rendered enviroments back. Please Capcom, please?
