Why would a Dem work with Trump? That makes no sense. If a Dem is in a heavily blue district, don't have corrupt connections (Pelosi) and work with Trump chances are you will be cooked when your seat comes up. In purple areas you could likely end up just getting replaced by a Republican during the next campaign cycle. Partnering with Dems has proven to be bad for Dems. Remember, when Kamala campaigned with Liz Cheney? That worked out well.

In looking at the bill the deficit is increased, rich people don't pay more in taxes, there are cuts to things like SNAP and there are tax cuts and I know Repubs love tax cuts but it never addresses a major flaw. Someone has to do the grunt work. Someone has to do the bottom of the barrel work or just work for the greater public good. You can cut taxes as much as you like but at a certain point you have to address actual wages and the price of items/services.

I thought Repubs were the budgetary hawks group. How do they plan to pay for the deficit with less tax money coming in? The Repubs reliance on the "free market" and tax breaks is some of the oddest things ever considering that as soon as the market crumbles like it did in 2008 and 2020 that same "free market" runs right to the government for help.

No one should ever have to prove citizenship to get health care. If an immigrant is in processing to BECOME documented, they should definitely be able to sign up for Medicaid because when they show up at a Hospital without ANY coverage, our costs go up more.

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimated that the proposal will reduce deficits by more than $880 billion over the next 10 years. The committee will meet on May 13 to consider the legislation.

A separate CBO estimate released by the committee's Democrats estimated the proposals would cut at least $912 billion, including $715 billion in Medicaid-related cuts. CBO estimated an additional 7.7 million people would be without health insurance by 2034 if the proposal passed.

It would build on tax cuts passed during Trump's first White House term that are due to expire this year, reducing revenues by roughly $5 trillion over the next 10 years, according to a congressional estimate.

The U.S. federal government currently carries more than $36 trillion in debt. The current proposal could add about $4 trillion to the debt over a decade.
