Economy Republicans reveal their plan to cut 800B in Medicaid to give 4.5T in tax cuts

wasnt Trump also saying something about raising taxes on the rich recently too?

its hard to keep up with all the stuff he says and its harder to discern what he will actually do. the guy's a roulette wheel.
I think it's safe to assume that the party which doesn't actually care about anything other than lowering rich people's taxes isn't going to actually raise taxes on them.

Some Medicaid recipients who make more than 100% of the federal poverty level — about $32,000 a year for a family of four — would be required to pay out-of-pocket costs, too, for some services. Those fees, which would not apply to emergency room visits, prenatal care, pediatric visits or primary care check-ups, would be limited to $35 per visit.

And applicants could not qualify for Medicaid if they have a home that is valued at more than $1 million.

The proposed bill also targets any immigrants who are living in the country illegally or without documentation. It reduces by 10% the share the federal government pays to states — such as New York or California — that allow those immigrants to sign up for Medicaid. To qualify for the ACA coverage, enrollees would have to prove they are “lawfully"

Some of this sounds like a good idea. If you are in this country ileagly you should not get health care.

If you can't trust Pam Bondi, former Qatari lobbyist, to be impartial regarding Qatari bribes to our president who can you trust?
Probably not his and his wife's bribe coins...do not trust... unless you're buying "favors"...

No one should ever have to prove citizenship to get health care. If an immigrant is in processing to BECOME documented, they should definitely be able to sign up for Medicaid because when they show up at a Hospital without ANY coverage, our costs go up more.

If you want them to just suffer and die then be a man and say that.

The only care they should get is emergency life threatening care not be covered by medicade. Nor should they get any other federal care like food stamps. If a state wants to provide coverage that's on them no federal funds.

Also.... you can't cut 800 billion in justification to give 5 times as much in tax cuts. That's not how budgets work. The liberal spending "conservatives" are beyond a mess.

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimated that the proposal will reduce deficits by more than $880 billion over the next 10 years. The committee will meet on May 13 to consider the legislation.

A separate CBO estimate released by the committee's Democrats estimated the proposals would cut at least $912 billion, including $715 billion in Medicaid-related cuts. CBO estimated an additional 7.7 million people would be without health insurance by 2034 if the proposal passed.

It would build on tax cuts passed during Trump's first White House term that are due to expire this year, reducing revenues by roughly $5 trillion over the next 10 years, according to a congressional estimate.

The U.S. federal government currently carries more than $36 trillion in debt. The current proposal could add about $4 trillion to the debt over a decade.

Oh God, it's hard not to love American politics as a left-leaning person these days <lmao>

Although I am very sorry for those non-Trump voting Americans who are suffering at the hands of the morons.

Wait - if a family of FOUR makes more than 32,000 a year they need to pay out of pocket???

Surely I’m reading that wrong or else that’s clearly retarded.

Any of those tax cuts going to the low income people who's healthcare is about to get shittier?
Um, yes, like all of it. That is what is getting renewed, and now it's no tax on tips, overtime or social security, and the "cut" in benefits means that able bodied, working age men have to either be working, looking for work, volunteering, or in some education.

Just wonderful that democrats are again taking the 20 of another 80/20 issue and now want straight up bums making 0 effort to just hang out indefinitely and have taxpayers pay for them.
