I'm really looking forward to seeing Lawler back, but why did they give him such a tough stylistic matchup.

He probably wanted a big name to move back down to WW, Koscheck is the only one free at the moment. Beating Koscheck immediately puts him in title contention, it's a smart move on his part. Worst case scenario, he loses a UD.

well, Josh has turned into a striker over the years anyways.

He didn't become stupid though. He went for takedowns against Daley (didn't spend a single second in striking range), Pierce, Hendricks... he only strikes against grapplers with bad defense.

But I wouldn't be surprised if he beats Robbie in the standup. Poor guy just isn't the same anymore.
