The controversial result of a PFL fight last week has been overturned.

http://www.espn.com.au/video/clip?id=31402374

Renan Ferreira was initially awarded a first-round TKO victory over former UFC champion Fabricio Werdum last Thursday at PFL 3 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. However, the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board (NJSACB) overturned the bout to a no decision Monday, Werdum's manager Ali Abdelaziz told ESPN on Monday.

During the finishing sequence, Werdum locked in a triangle choke with his legs from bottom position. Ferreira reached out with his right hand and tapped Werdum's shoulder twice, an action that was missed in real time by referee Keith Peterson. Seconds later, Ferreira was able to escape from Werdum's choke and land big punches leading to the TKO.

After watching the replay from different angles and consulting expert sources, including Peterson, NJSACB commissioner Larry Hazzard Sr. decided to overturn the result. Peterson told Hazzard, per a letter obtained by ESPN, that if he saw the tapping action by Ferreira in real time "he would have likely had stopped the contest" and given Werdum the win by submission.

Whoa!

I sense bribery here. There's something incredibly fish about there.

Whoa!
Overeem vs stipe getting overturned next?<30>

That's almost ONEFC level fishiness. Jesus.

That guy who overturned it is a boxing referee for crying out loud. I think there's something incredibly fish about this, and first thought that came to me was bribery, but that's just my opinion.

Feels corrupt as fuck.

Wow, actually surprised the Commission did so. Good to see a decision like this being made where so many of us automatically assume the commission will never do dick unless it's a drug failure.

I was in the "He Tapped" initially, then "He Didn't" after pondering the movements (even if I found them a bit of "trickery"). I settled on the mindset it goes till the Ref stops it and left it there.

Not sure how I feel about this occurring. While I like to see bad calls and such issues looked at with a finer eye. I'm not sure this is a good instance....

I've been a fan of Werdum for a long long long time. Everyone counted out Werdum, but I knew he would beat Gus.

Renan, I wasn't so sure about.

I don't think that tap made a difference in this fight and this is a grave injustice. Imagine something like that being overturned by a guy who's a boxing referee. Imagine that.

I think Werdum was full of shit after the fight, and this is even more full of shit decision by a boxing ref.

I would be shocked if something shady didn't go on like bribery, but hey it's impossible to know for sure.

Shame on PFL, and shame on Werdum. I won't be supporting PFL.

Damn so Werdum advances in the tournament? Overturned or not, that was a brutal finish. Werdum will need some time off.

It's not elimination at this stage, they both get 1 point for the result. Ferreira would have got 6 points for a first round KO.
