Lots of fellow Sherdoggers see him as underserving of being included in P4P best discussions. You get bashed if you talk of Barao in such a discussion. Imo this disregard comes from the inability to appreciate smaller fighters. The heavier the division , the hyped you are. Imo, He kicks ass in a P4P match ( wish it were possible) of anyone except GSP, may be even his but not quite sure.

He is right up there for me. You decide for yourself.

People think guys like Bader are P4P better than Pickett, and Robot Shogun is better than Faber. They are wrong. Gustaffson is better than Wineland because what?...Its not just that UFC needed a new poster boy after Silva and the LHW division all grew old together.

Being tall is a gimmick. Barao dont need it, he can beat anyone regardless of physical and stylistic advantages in his weight range.

He's too small. Can never be P4P. Deal with it.

I have Barao beating Cruz, and it seem the people who put Barao on P4P list agree with me

I just don't see the logic in ranking a smaller dude over a fighter who is just as skilled only bigger, which makes the fact that Barao's above Weidman, and that Cain is below Aldo, Silva and GSP, pretty ludicrous to me.

I have Barao #2 P4P, and if Cruz comes back to his usual form I don't see Barao beating him.

Barao should definitely be ahead of Cain. Imo:

    1. GSP
    2. Jones
    3. Aldo
    4. Barao/Anderson
    5. Barao/Anderson

Barao is a monster. He looks funny as hell too.

MMA, the only sport where you are the champion without doing anything for two years.

    Barao > Cruz

Yeah. Somewhere amongst all the judge's decisions, people forget that he's outstruck + taken down with ease a who's who of elite-level fighters at 135 and 125 lol, all while barely getting touched at that.

lol what does that matter? It's not like he's avoiding Cruz. He's pretty much dominated anyone they've put him in the cage with.

Barao cleared out the division before Cruz did... nuff said.

    Brad Pickett
    Scott Jorgensen
    Urijah Faber
    Michael McDonald
    Eddie Wineland

    And Dominick Cruz soon.

So what does beating Urijah Faber and Eddie Wineland mean? They may not have been UFC Champions, but in Faber's case, he was Champion in the top promotion for his weight class at the time.

Many even argue that he beat Cruz in a very close fight at 132.

I think Barao is definitely one of the best fighters in the world. Personally I prefer him over Aldo and I don't think he should be far behind in the P4P debate. I have Jones, GSP, and Aldo above him for sure and I could see Weidman being ranked over him given his last win but I think he's top 5.

Because the guy who's on the P4P list has been inactive for two years. Barao has pretty much cleaned out the 135 division. The only fight left for him at this juncture is the unification bout.

He's easily Top 5 P4P at the moment.

At this point, anyone who has Dominick Cruz in their top ten still baffles me.

If you can remove guys like Barnett in 2009 for failing a drug test and not fighting for nine months or Quinton Jackson in 2009 for saying that he's quitting the UFC. Surely a guy who hasn't fought in two years, not to mention the president of the company being unsure if he can even compete in 2014, should be enough to remove him currently.

At the moment, Barao is the guy at 135 to beat. If Cruz comes back and beats him, which is always a possibility, that will change. Right now, though, Barao is the #1 BW.
