Probably one of the UFC's best rising Lightweights. 28 Years old, 25-5 overall 5-1 in the UFC, on a 4 fight winstreak with 4 straight knockouts. Super athletic, hasn't gotten a fight in 11 months due to VISA issues and when he talked to Joe Silva about getting on a Europe card he said " there's no fights available for you".

Humble and well spoken man, even speaks english for your entertainment. Hopefully he gets the winner of Jim Miller vs Dustin Poirier next, he deserves it. UFC needs to handle international fighters better it's sad.

He's the best example of a fighter that easily could be a champion but that never will be one.

I think he is still waiting for Pettis to sign the contract to fight him...

Taisumov is a beast. One of the most exciting fighters in the UFC today. Crazy KO power.

I think Mairbek wants to fight at least at event in Denmark in May and winner of Miller-Poirier may be out for a while. I think UFC should make Taisumov vs Ray (both had problems with American visa) or Taisumov vs Santos/Green.

That doesn't sit well with me. Subjugate international fighters because it's a North American sport so that you can make the most money and you become boxing...At least in boxing the Uzbeks, Kazakhs, Russians, Thai etc Can dominate the amateurs and win olympic gold medals, world championship gold medals, etc. Do that to MMA fighters and you may very well kill off giant pieces of culture and miss out on so much talent in the Sport. They don't have the Olympics and World Games to thrive on. ( that's why I consider the Olympics and World Games in boxing, amateur boxers as great if not better than their professional counter parts...the best fight the best in the amateurs and it's a less corrupt and political environment like pro boxing which panders to English and Spanish speaking demographics giving the rest of the world less than fair chances far too often, and when they do become champions they get paid less than if they were to win olympic medals anyways, pro boxing is a joke for this reason).

Oh and UFC offered Taisumov a fight against Mustafaev but both turned it down (both guys are from Russia and represents the same gym).

A potential dark horse for the 155lbs division for sure.

I'm not saying they are doing it by accident. They promote Khabib, so it's not like they are scarred of having a Russian champ.

They do a pretty bad job at signing international talent and that's putting it mildly. They overpromote anything Latino or American, or at least native English Speakers. It's not a coincidence it's taken Khabib 8 consecutive wins in the UFC with an undefeated record to get his first top 5 Opponent and that Tyron Woodley wins 3 fights, sits out 18 months off a split decision and gets his title shot.

Fantastic fighter. If he were American he would have had a lot more exposure by now. Not fair.

Every time I seen him fight I have been impressed, he looks very skilled and he could go far if he is pushed correctly .
