Rashad wrestled much better competition in college. Phil Davis years the competition was much weaker. Rashad also beat Greg jones in wrestling.

Davis was a NCAA champion; Evans was a mediocre collegiate wrestler. It had nothing to do with level of competition. Level of competition might explain the difference between being #1 (champion) and, say, being #3 or #4.

Davis is a terrible mma fighter. DC isn't.

It doesn't sound like you hope he wins. Seems like a thinly veiled I know JJ will probably win thread.

I don't think Rashad was worried about Phil's striking and Phil I don't think seems like the type to take one to give one. Power can alter how you approach someone greatly.

Evans was not as successful with Hendo whose punching power and chin demand respect. Cormier didn't have the same cautious approach to Hendo because he has more faith in his grappling, chin, and power than Rashad does in imo anyway.

I would think DC would approach Jones in a more aggressive manner that Evans did but DC has never trained with Jones which maybe caused Evans to be overly cautious.

Phil had far and away a much more successful wrestling career. Beating Greg Jones doesn't invalidate that.

Terrible MMA fighter? That's awfully harsh criticism of someone who has beat a former champion, beat the current #1 contender and is a top 10 in the world's premier MMA organization. I'm not particularly a fan of the guy, but that seems a bit hyperbolic.

Good point, TS. But you're going to get flamed for it.

Your point is correct. Rashad caught his kicks to get him down for the most part so even though Davis is likely the better wrestler he was controlled due to the gap in the stand up.

I don't think there is a gap like that standing beteween DC and Jones though. Maybe in the kicking but I think DC has better hands.

He's good at what he does, but I wouldn't call it "fighting".

Listen Bones may win, he may not. We'll see very very soon (YAY!) but I will 100% guarantee you will not be seeing Jones win the wrestling part of the fight. It's very true Bones has outstanding wrestling (MMA and college wise) and up till now he's completely dominated that area of all his fights except the Gus fight (which I'm sure was because Bones neglected it in training not realizing Gus would be so improved). And it's true you can't always tell with these things just like the Davis and Rashad fight. However DC is a whole other animal when it comes to wrestling and he hasn't and most likely never will neglect his wrestling training so he isn't going to get rusty. If the fight goes the route of wrestling then DC wins hands down. But I'm sure we are gonna see a nice mixed bag of things so who knows.

Nice post. I wish all DC supporters were so even-handed.

TS you sound like someone who tried to conjour up a coherent thought, and failed miserably.

Phil davis hasnt displayed nearly as impressive wrestling in mma as dc. Davis would not have ragdolled henderson or barnett
