Title says it all, I'm on a mission to find a way to submit from everywhere. What works for you guys, and is reliably safe (ie; going for this submission doesn't mean you get passed or submitted if you didn't submit him). I know a lot of people like the kimura, but I find it not effective to finish from the bottom. Thanks!

If you can work an underhook and get your head under an arm...arm triangle/sweep...

Please explain, are you saying arm triangle on the same side underhook? Like the standard HG underhook?

I prefer to sweep from there (lockdown), Electric Chair is there as well

Bottom half has submissions, but the magic of that position are the sweeping and stand-up options. Learn the lockdown well, learn Zguard, learn deep half. From bottom I like leg locks if my opponent postures up.

Same-side omoplata and dogbar are my only two consistent attacks from half guard. Not coincidently, they can both be used to sweep as well.

I get loop chokes or cross collar chokes from bottom half occasionally. Typically, though, they are just threats to make the guy back up so I can work something else.

Kimura also obviously but you mentioned that.

    My go to's:

    knee bar/toe hold
    electric chair
Arm drag to the back (not really a sub, but it leads to subs)
    calf crank/vaporizer
    Arm Triangle

Just like Cyborg mentions, in no gi guys love to try to control your head from knee shield half. This works well in the gi but nogi it presents itself way more often. For me I can hit it like Cyborg shows on same and lower level guys quite a bit. Higher level guys dont like reaching for the head as much so you can kind of bait them by moving your head closer to their knee. I guess they feel a little less in danger as they are not really reaching any longer.

Finishing the kimura is low percentage, but using it to set up a back roll sweep is golden. It's probably my most reliable sweep from any position.

Knee bar and kimura are the only two I can hit, but I'm pretty good at both.

In general...kimura, kimura to figure four armlock, omoplata, triangle, dogbar, loop choke are my high percentage finishes. Also from time to time I hit the lockdown calf crank (with the legs and with the arms), spin under kneebar / toehold and electric chair. Those are most of what I would consider high percentage. You could also say shin to shin to footlocks but there's a transition there so it probably doesn't count.

There are a few tricks to make the kimura a little more effective from the bottom. In general the problem is that when they defend and you take the kimura grip, it's incredibly hard to break their defenses because you end up cramped and unable to generate any power or leverage. Turning almost face down and posting on your elbow help a lot with that. I was going to say I'll film a video on that but apparently I already did. @[email protected]

Half Guard omoplata video (it's after the interview part)

Can't find a video online for it. It's a 10th planet thing called the apollo choke. Starts in lockdown. I use it to deal with head and arm control. I'll whip with my legs by just drawing my knees to my chest. Doesn't always work, but it works enough for me to try it. Sometimes guys will feel off balance and let go of the head and arm and I can duck under one of their arms or at least get double underhooks which is where I want to be anyway. The finish isn't always high percentage either, but it opens up a sweep and a back take depending on which side you pop out on. I will say when you sweep with the arm triangle, the finish comes easy from the top.
