Quick question.

The Past is to The Future as History is to ??

Legitimate question.

TL;DR

The Past is to The Future as History is to ??

Is this another thread about philosophy and temporal discussions?

No, simply my lack of knowing/lack of existence of a potentially useful term

*edit*

Punching a motherfucker for being a cunt.

Close IMO.

Missing is the concrete nature of what will occur, vs what is thought to occur, yeah?

Close, IMO.

Missing is the entirety of events leading to the eventuality point of a destiny, yeah?

Its simply the future then. The past is to the future as history is to the future. Dangerous games youre playing TS. Lets throw in time travel to really muddy the waters.

The Q Continuum could shed some light.

Maybe I'm asking about a term that simply does not exist; kinda sad if the answer is the past:future as history:the future.

There should be a better simile of "the future" to match more in line with "history"

Could be messing with false equivalence too, and history is just history without any sensible antonym other than future. Page Scotty. Good thread, always like the ones that melt my pitiful ability to understand a gosh darn thing.

Maybe. But, I think history often leaves this out as well.
Agreed, however in a definitive (perhaps esoteric) sense it rhetorically means "all that has occured" regardless of what is/is not widely known or acknowledged at different periods and by different people(s).

There's gotta be some term or word for the entirety of future events and not just the time period yet to come aka "the future" right?

If not then I endorse this thread becoming a place in which that word/term can be brainstormed.

Could be, and thanks I appreciate that, and was glad to see you jump on in; been digging variety of your takes last couple months since I started to reengage here more, as well as those of @A.A. Riggs (he ocassionally runs deeper than I realized).

There's one more poster I thought of tagging in the OP in addition to you two but can't recall right now.

I told my old man and brother that I had been in love allot of times over the course of my life with many past gfs. They both told me im an idiot and i shouldnt have been in love so many times..smh. made me rethink my whole love life. Lol
