Seriously, though, keep the friendship going as is unless it becomes painfully obvious that's not what he or she wants. At that point, honesty is the best policy, as cheesy as that sounds.

Just understand, though, when those kinds of feelings are involved, it usually messes with the friendship. The more he or she is around you, the more likely it is the feelings are going to get stronger. Either this person is going to cling on to a hopeless scenario where you two end up together (not healthy or really even fair) or distance his or herself to let the feelings subside. Only other option is to wingman it up and hook your mate up with someone else, but even that may limit the time you two spend together.
