Yes, this is what i was talking about in responding to Rod's post i think..i think that they (ISIS) destroyed some ancient architecture that would fulfiull a biblical prophecy..in their minds they are trying to bring Jesus back, (they obviously believe in him), but he is merely there to fulfill a larger part of their prophecy...or something..lol, shooting directly from the hip here.

Also, this poor Maria girl "could" have been a Muslim but the spelling doesn't look it.

This reminds me of an argument I had with Luger about a guy named Ismail who killed a couple of cops in NY. I right away noticed the Muslim spelling and deduced it was.likely Islam-inspired violence (which it ended up being), while he vehemently argued that the name was Ishmael (the Hebrew spelling).

Anyway, its not the end of the world and sad nonetheless (Christian or Muslim).

Pakistan is not Saudi Arabia, its likely that the spelling Maria is a trend, Pakistanis are not arabs, they are not married to the arab language or culture, they are crazy muslims, but they have their own craziness of muslim.

Generally a name like Maria would be a Christian spelling and likely came from Spanish origins and some point. Most Muslims (by far and away) will modify the spelling of their name to its Muslim (largely Arabic and "best) comparative. In the case of Mary you get confused versions like Maryam. Similar sounding to either Miriam or Mary (again, Muhammad confusing the two). Similarly Ismail or Ismayal (or other similar spellings with "s" sound instead of the Hebrew "sh").

I would say that in this scenario a Muslim boy liked a Christian kafir and when she denied his marriage proposal (with its conversion) and his family seeing him broken by the kafir burned her to death.

Or it could be the same scenario with the christian/spanish-rooted spelling carried by a Muslim women, which, to me seems less likely.

Miryam is the hebrew original Maryam is arameic variation.

Your scenario is ridiculous, christians dont just live among muslims in rural areas. Maria is probably a version that arose in Pakistan due to the language.

Yeah I tend to agree that this is more to do with Northern SubContinent culture than Islam, though Islam adds its own thing to it.

Back when the Brits ruled the area, they stopped Hindus in the area around Bengal from burning alive widows. The Hindu priestly elite demanded the British not intefere in Hindu customs, to which the British said it was British custom to not allow women to be burned alive.

Gulbeddin Hekmatyar , the number 1 recipient of CIA largesse during the Afghan-Soviet war, was infamous for throwing acid on women's face , for not wearing a Niqab/Burqa.

It was a year or 2 ago, that a Chrisitan couple was burned alive by a Muslim mob in Pakistan. The woman who was burned was pregnant too. Pakistan and neighboring parts of India has seen countrless people being burned alive or had acid thrown at them . Not to mention the rape culture .

That whole region has seen many barbarians conquer and settle the area for millenia, so you have caste and rape culture and brutalization of vulnerable people and communities.

Again, i already pointed out that the family members wear taqiyah, so they are definitively muslim, i also put a link of another girl named Maria who is muslim and lived in taliban territory.

Myriam is the original name, Maryam is the arameic version it would be extremely easy to confuse the two. Mariam is the greek transliteration of Maryam which is the arameic version of Myriam.

See all languages tend to be different so when you move a name from one to other, specially one with different roots, its normal for names to change. When you hear hooves dont think zebras friend.

And to end this argument, i was right, Maria is an Urdu variation of Mariam, it has absolutely nothing to do with the spanish and its given to muslim girls

The practice of burning women alive when thier husbands died is a hindu custom that was outlawed by the british many years ago in india. Its unrelated to this incident in that that was a tradition done only to married women so the family of her husband wouldnt have to look after her after he had died. It was ruthless and barbaric and was rightfully outlawed.

Sadly, this practice of burning and maiming women is still prevalent in both india, pakistan, Afghanistan and that general.part of the world. Its done to punish a woman for making another person and his family "lose face". If you look at similar examples (of which there are sadly hundreds) youll notice the trend is always young women burned by families or groups over matters of relations with men. Its a backwards culture that treats women not as equals but as possesions.

This is another tragic story but unfortunately wont be the last of its kind we will hear about.

Killing is bad enough but WTF is with killing an innocent person in the most barbaric fashion. This is what happens when you have a culture/cultures that are anchored around extreme patriarchy.

When you hear shit like this, it's almost impossible not to open up your borders for asylum (with vetting, of course).

These practices are likely to never change. What a tragic consequence of behaving on ancient myths.
