Those were legal under the new rules.<{clintugh}> Legal knees by Tim Means for those who don't know what I am talking about. Now Big John is saying no knees down ever will be legal. What a cluster....

The new rules aren't in force yet. According to Rogan that is.

Those knees were illegal even under the new rules. They are just changing the one hand rule on the ground.

    1. The new rules aren't in effect yet.

    2. That still would have been illegal under the new rules. Any knees down is considered grounded. The only change would be the 3 point rule, where a standing fighter with one hand down can be knee'd.

Fuck I don't fully understand the new rules either.....both hands and both feet must be down??? or any other part???

    WTF does that mean?

I guess, any other part other than just one hand down I think they mean.

As in one knee....like tonight, would be a downed opponent, so still tonights knee would be illegal even after Jan 1/17

Nobody knows not even the actual refs. How can Dan, Jon, and Rattner all see it different. They need to get together and figure out how they are going to call it after that. I'm guessing knee down will stay no knees. I feel like Big John has the most sway.

I think McCarthy explains it well in this video.

    Starts @ 3:28

Those strikes will never be legal. Cowboy had his knee clearly down. It is akin to the soccer kick rule.

I already made notice of this. It still was confusing to her Rattner call it legal. Dan call it a no contest and Jon call it a DQ.

Thanks for not coming at my throat like other people. it was just weird for Rattner to be saying they were legal....

Yeah, it was a mess all around. Total confusion and nobody but the refs actually knew the rules.

I hate when I have to defend Mirg. He's a terrible ref, but he got it right on this one. I approve that NC over a DQ as well. And that knee will not be legal next year either, although it should be.

What if someone is knocked down to their knees and he wants to roll to his back. For a split second at least one hand or knee won't be touching the mat. Can he be kicked in the head then?
