It is... mostly hydrogen which is reddish.

in the movie europa report one of the astronauts gets lost from the ship. Floating into the abyss to die he looks around and sees a black space. But ur images are filled with stars - but because of long exposure. So real human eyes wouldnt really see a sky full of starts i thought.
