I know this isn't the right forum, but if Foz can question the emo-ness of Linkin Park, I figure I should be able to discuss this. Is anyone excited about David Mamet's upcoming movie Redbelt? The storyline sounds somewhat bland and conventional, but it's fucking David Mamet. I remember reading "Glengary Glenross" for my Creative Writing class, and throughly enjoyed it. And then I saw the movie, and that scene with Baldwin (COFFEE IS FOR CLOSERS) was brilliant. And with the casting of Chiwitel Ejifor (sp) finally in a starring good guy role again (he played the bad guy in Four Brothers, Serenity, Children of Men), and it dealing with Jiu Jitsu, I'm stoked. On top of that, Mamet claims to be a Jiu Jitsu enthusiast and a MMA fan, so it can only add to his dedication (check latest issue of SI for quote). Add a bunch of swearing, crafty dialogue, and some UFC fighters, and you might have yourself a first serious movie dealing with MMA. I know right now there are lots of other fringe sports and activities that aren't considered mainstream, but movies are based on them anyways (breakdancing, biking, skateboarding, etc.). Although I haven't seen them and can't give a review, I doubt they have much substance, or at least nothing in the trailers convinced me to go out and watch them. But this is fucking David Mamet! So, is anyone else looking forward to this movie in 2008?
