It's that day again, anyone going? What are you looking to get?

I just left a record store called Karma records in Indianapolis, was probably sixth in line, got there fifteen minutes before they opened. I scooped...

Chvrches "Every Open Eye Remixes"
Deftones "Rarities"
...and some non rsd stuff...
Die Antwoord "Tension"
Fear "The Record"

And a grabbag of goodies.

I never bother going, hate all the crowds and queues, but I will probably check in tomorrow. My local store almost always has things left over, usually discounted a little too. The only record I particularly want is Ryley Walker & Charles Rumback 'Cannots'.

The crowds are part of the fun. People seem to be realy nice and overly friendly.

It seems, like every year, scalpers are taking advantage of eBay. Selling things for 300% what they paid. There's money to be made if that's your thing...

Never heard of this....
If you are into music its a holiday! Artists and labels release exclusive albums to qualifying stores. The store orders what they want but aren't guaranteed copies of anything so if there is a release you want you'll be waiting in line before the store opens hoping to get your hands on it.

My usual record store in Michigan has live music, free pizza and beer (founders pale ale/centennial ipa) and an awesome atmosphere. Most larger stores will have bands playing.

Lush has a nice new box set out. Hmm maybe I'll make the trek to amoeba

What's my thing? I don't buy records to sell them, I buy them because I listen to them. Just the other month I was at my local record fair. But RSD is mental, and not something I find fun. I'll go to the store tomorrow and I am certain they'll have the record I want but I won't have to queue for it.

I didn't mean to imply you buy to re sell, just looked on eBay and discogs and saw that people were scalping records as they do every year. Hope you get the record you want.
