more than Stipe deserves a rematch with Cormier. Joe Rogan said to DC that if DJ should get a rematch then so should Stipe.

1 Stipe got finished. DJ lost a split decision.
2 DJ has a win over Cejudo. Stipe has no wins over Cormier.
3 DJ has a many more title defences than Stipe.

Not to say Stipe isn't by far the most qualified for a rematch with DC, but still, the situations are very different.

EDIT: now wins changed to no wins

EDIT: point 4 removed cos it makes no sense and can't remember what the message was.

If Cody Garbrandt somehow deserved a rematch, MM 100% deserves one

Bet he doesn't get it though, he'll fight Sergio Pettis next

DJ deserves a rematch by any objective standard.

Long time champ, close fight that could have gone either way, he already has a win over Cejudo and no super deserving challengers that would have to wait.

But he will probably not get one. He will crush any contender put in front of him though and unless they screw him over or he decides to leave the UFC for a bigger pay check elsewhere DJ will fight for the belt again.

Cejudo did not prove to be the better fighter. He just managed to edge him out with a smart stategy. And it was super close.

But they are clearly the best in the division and another fight would be super interesting.

4 Daniel Cormier is essent

Here are reasons there should be no rematch:

  • DJ is boring and his fights are annoying
  • He's played a game for years and finally got beat at it
  • Every fight he has in the UFC sets back their goals of increasing viewership. He is a virus that must be snuffed out.
  • We just don't care about him

Speak for yourself..that was sickening last night what they did ..if this keeps up the ufc will lose me as a viewer perminately

We are now in the UFC Sore Loser Era. Every defeated champion "deserves" a rematch because he's a sore loser. Take it like a man and get to back of the f'g line!

Neah!
But Cody clearly deserved a 3rd fight, being a non-defending champion.

close decision loss

so he does deserve a rematch

but he is bad for business
so he wont get one

Yea stipe beat DC and then he woke up lol

Definitely deserves it and it's a fight I want to see. Losing might have been the best option for DJ because now there's interest

Fool who has never seen a DJ fight confirmed.

I'm in favour of champions having to fight the #1 contender to get a rematch, but after all the shitty rematches they've given out, they're going to fuck over DJ? 12 time champion DJ? Only champion the division has ever had? It's nuts man. Mighty Mouse haters are the scum of the MMA community.

DJ definitely deserves a rematch. 11 title defences is an astonishing run. And with Horiguchi in Japan and Benavidez just having lost to Sergio Pettis (who Cejudo just defeated), who else is there?

If Johnson's injury is going to keep him out for longer than 3-4 months, then I suppose Pettis is the leading contender - though it will perhaps be a difficult sell.

In that case, turn lemons into lemonade. The UFC would be sensible to put a Cejudo vs Pettis title fight free on ESPN, and use Cejudo to make inroads into the Mexican-American demographic that traditionally sticks to boxing.

WME should prove their fucking worth by getting Cejudo onto some talk shows etc. He's a Mexican-American from the Los Angeles area with a base in Arizona. He speaks fluent Spanish. He's an Olympic gold medallist. While not wildly charismatic, he's still very personable and pretty funny. He's always good to listen to. He recently survived a California wildfire that could have killed him. And he just, in his own words, 'defeated the man, the myth, the legend'.

If WME can't do something with that story, they should close down their business.

Olympic gold medallists are easy to market.

Of course he deserves an immediate rematch. Did Cejudo do any damage to MM?

He definitely deserves it. But will they do it from a financial stand point? You never know with Dana.

If anybody deserves one it's him, I'm guessing he won't get one due to being a boring fighter and ducking fighters.

Agree with you 75%, and if I knew what you were trying to say with your 4th point it would likely be 100%.
