Opinion Realistic timeline to end shutdowns and lessons from SARS

I think we are in for 18ish months of locked and unlocked, locked and unlock. The economy has been a dead man walking for years. While governments will do everything they can to profit from this, this is clearly a pandemic.

I love 18 months of lost wages in my prime because of a 0.2% chance of dying. Love my 1.5 year house arrest.

Thanks for looking out for me Big Brother.

I lost my job making 100k/year and have no prospects because of the lock down. 99.8% chance of survival but I lost 100k/year and retirement at 55 for this.

Unfortunately, you’re probably wasting your time. The number of “it’s just a flu” conspiracy theorist on this board will exhaust you.

No, it’s not. Last year we had 34,000 flu deaths. We already surpassed half of that in only 40 days during a massive shutdown to prevent the spread. We’re in the 18,000s already with schools closed and stay-at-home orders.

Update, over 2,000 people died yesterday.

We’re now at over 20,000 deaths.
