Opinion Realistic timeline to end shutdowns and lessons from SARS

I think we are in for 18ish months of locked and unlocked, locked and unlock. The economy has been a dead man walking for years. While governments will do everything they can to profit from this, this is clearly a pandemic.

Yeah Corona is weird. It's the perfect virus for spreading. It has asymptomatic period and then it stays in the person well after they seemingly have recovered

So they become infected then. And they'll most likely recover. 50 million people die a year globally, are we going to do anything in our power to prevent those deaths too? 100K is an absolute drop in the bucket.

My city - in one of the allegedly "safer" (per Dr. Donny) low population Midwestern states just had a 190 person outbreak at a local meat packing plant.

Life comes with risk. Go ahead and quarantine yourself, leave other people out of it and let them live their lives. Nobody owes you, or anyone else shit. Is it your right to prevent people from earning a living and freely associating? Who are you to tell people what they can or can't do?

No, but it is the right of the state and federal government to if they think too many people will be infected and die.

How long was the last flu season? Are you saying corona will be only be a factor for the same amount of time and what information is that based on?

Indeed. The average debt per Americans was at the highest it's ever been leading up to this. More than half of americans living pay-check-to-paycheck. Literally any rough waters were going to sink the economy, we weren't prepared for anything bad.

You idea of freedom is very skewed. What good is physical freedom to go anywhere you like when mentally you are chained to your ideas? You can't be free siting at home? Has your home become such a terrible place for you?
