That’s actually a good comparison, because The Beach Boys were fucking groundbreaking. Pet Sounds is one of the greatest rock n roll records ever made. Beasties were groundbreaking too, in many ways: their use of sampling in Paul’s Boutique, mixing live instruments in with sampled parts including sampling their own live parts to mix with found sounds, the way they integrated hip hop, funk, punk, and skate culture into one sort of “meta culture.” Fuck, they were setting trends in fashion and being sneaker heads before that was even a mainstream thing. Beasties are legendary.
