Looking at Rafael dos Anjos's current winning streak, it is at a respectable 5 and while there have been many more streaks in the LW division that have had a greater quantity of wins, arguably the quality of his opponents makes this one of the more impressive streaks in the history of the LW division. Not only do the names look great as a resume, but the pure dominance showcased during these fights make it all that more impressive.

RDA, a journeyman and veteran of the sport, was sort of a 50-50 guy, he looked awesome when he won but picked up a few losses during his career as well. Nobody expected he would be the next super dominant champ in the LW division, let alone blast through the likes of Pettis, Diaz, Cowboy and Bendo - two of whom were former successful champions. While Jason high may not be turning any heads, those 4 wins alone are a fantastic accomplishment.

Here is a breakdown of his last 5 fights:

Donald Cerrone - W via TKO round 1 (1:06)
Anthony Pettis - W via UD 5 rounds
Nate Diaz - W via UD 3 rounds
Benson Henderson - W via KO round 1 (2:32)
Jason High - W via TKO round 2 (3:36)

If he were to go on and avenge his loss against Khabib, it would be hard to argue against RDA being one of the most successful LW champions of all time.

I guess the point of this thread is to ask the question, do you think that RDA's current winning streak is the best in the history of the LW division - based on quality of wins and opponents alone? Share your thoughts.

It's def. a great streak. One of the best. I'm not counting out Khabib though. Nobody can.

When I think of monster streaks, I can't help but think of Pettis's path to win and defend the title after the Guida loss. Split decision to Stephens, then a head kick KO to Lauzon, a body kick KO to Cerrone, an armbar for Bendo and finally a guillotine to Gil.

Khabib is the wild card
RDA has been very impressive

If not for that Guida loss, I'd say that that would be one of the greatest streaks in the history of mma period.

Plus it contained the cage-kick thing everybody went nuts over.

But even despite the Guida setback - still it is very close in terms of quality.

He has 5 losts in ufc. Nothing special. Champions like him, bendo, hendricks, pettis or weidman come and go.

Sometimes guys that have tasted defeat several times are the ones fighters need to be ready for. They worked on their game, got their shit together and sometimes even end up capturing the belt. ;)

BJ had a better one.

Jens Pulver - sub
Joe Stevenson - sub
Sean Sherk - TKO
Kenny Florian - sub
Diego (still the Nightmare) Sanchez - TKO

But there was a loss to GSP in the middle but in terms of LW fights that streak was better.

I may or may not have to fall back on shogun pride title run

The cage kick happened before that streak, in Pettis/Bendo 1

Very good streak indeed. Perhaps the best so far, of what I can think of at the moment.

RDA's victory over Benson was a little iffy, but the rest were very good performances.

For shame a professional fighter losing in the UFC and learning from those losses to become a champion. For the record all Champions come & go man they just hope they can stay awhile...

Does everything have to be superlatives? He's a great champion allright.

No ones even close. Wonder if the retards saying no are thinking BJ Penns amazing streak of Pulver, Stevenson, Sherk, Florian, and Diego is better lol. Or maybe it's one of Gomis can crushing streaks in pride. Or maybe butt hurt Conor fans who usually don't bother with thinking at all.

Seriously, no one even comes close.

This couldnt be more true. Half the champs have 5 loses or more.

I'd say it's up there. If he beats Habib I'd say it's #1. Plus I'll eternally love him for KO'ing Bendo into Bolivian

Wasnt Penns streak at 155? Where he beat Sean Sheik, Kenny Florini, Diego, Guida, and maybe another bum or 2.
