Tonight is the start of a new season of ESPN2's Wednesday Fights. Rayonta Whitfield is a 20-0 prospect that has been in pretty soft competition, and isn't the most exciting guy out there, but he faces the tough veteran Vargas. Fights start at 9, hey its free boxing on Wednesday Night, what else do you have to do?

The venue probably will be a sellout, full of corporate big shots who arrived in Augusta a day early for the Masters in their private jets and are looking for something a little different.

The card this week isn't too hot but next week is Kid Chocolate and Antwan Echols at 168 lbs which should definitely be better then anything anyone has to do on a Wednesday night.

Should be a pretty good card and as you said, you can't beat free fights on a Wednesday night.

I'm at work and won't be able to watch the card. Somebody please keep me updated. Thanks.....

From the size of the thread I can tell that no one watched Ray winning the decision.

In a WBO flyweight eliminator, unbeaten WBO #2 rated Rayonta "The Stingray" Whitfield (21-0, 10 KOs) won a majority decision over Manuel Vargas (24-3, 10 KOs) on Wednesday night at the Bell Auditorium in Augusta, Georgia. Vargas pressed the action and closed strong while hometown favorite Whitfield had success from long range. Scores were 114-114, 117-111, 116-112.

I read the summary from FightNews. The blurb made it sound like a somewhat interesting fight. Wish I'd been able to see it.

it actually was very entertaining. Vargas came to fight. He had speed and decent power. He was able to move Whitman around every once in a while. Whitman executed his jab well and boxed nicely though he was literally running away at times. he would actually turn his back and run away from Vargas which i didnt really like. But Whitaker did enough to win in my opinion though I feel the decision was closer than it was given. I had Whitaker winning by one point only.

The fight was well worth a watch. Vargas may of lost his streak, but didn't lose any respect in it.
