No, it actually isn't his choice. It's the call of the ref or doctor, and the right call was made his eyelid was split wide open.

And to the OP, he was 20 seconds till the 4th round, if he would have been able to survive because if you didn't notice he was being beaten badly in the 3rd round when Holzken actually started to fight him.
