On a 0-10 scale, how good is his Muay Thai?

I don't find it particularly mind blowing but I do find it particularly consistent and genuine. In the UFC, I rate it a strong 8.

He always finds a way to employ the tall stance and utilize elbows and knees from the clinch effortlessly.

EDIT - I only mean MMA. And fuck the scale. Just post your opinion.

Never seen him in a kickboxing fight so it's hard to say. I'd rate his MMA Muay Thai pretty damn highly.

7.39264 anything else is fucking stupid.

He probably has some of the best knees/elbows from the clinch. He also throws nice hooks and headkicks to keep the opponent from circling away from him too much which also helps push them against the cage so he can unleash his clinch strikes.

I am above your rating system, and will therefore use my own:

One octopus with Parkinsons forever rolling down an electrified escalator.

By an MMA standard about a 6.5 or so? He's got very good work in close by MMA standards. He really picks his short shots and used elbows and knees well, playing to his strengths as a long fighter. His muay thai at range is not excellent, with guys like Aldo, Barao, Barboza, Anderson, etc. throwing far better kicks and kick chains.

By muay thai standards it's bad, but as I understand it, even the best MT in MMA is bad by MT standards..

Matt Brown's clinch work is disgusting I was poppin a chub watching those foot sweeps, elbows, and knees

1-10, 1 being Shields 10 being Anderson, I'd say he's a solid 6. He's pretty underrated. His glaring weakness is body shots and that worries me about him a bit

He can check a kick with his knees? His stomach ate so many body shots. Hahaha get it his stomach ate body shots
Neways I think he needs to throw more kicks as well

Yeah he better put in some work, on taking shots to the body. They're going to looking to hurt him to the body from here on out.

Well. His efficacy with muay thai is not consistent imo. I will break it down into the three ranges.

Clinch Range: 8.5 BEAST MODE

Punching Range: 6.5-7...pretty damn good

Kicking Range:5-6...average

What a fight guys. I'm an official Matt Brown fan now; it'd be great to see CQC muay thai guy as champ in 2014.
