I gave him an 8. Very good but not perfect. Defense sloppy.

I gave him 10, he made it look much easier than I expected. Yes he got hit, but he was fighting a monster!

Didn't get the finish, lotta leaning on the fence, and the eyepoke.

But on the other hand completely neutralized DC and was almost never in any danger against a proven finisher. Outgrappled DC whose main gameplan was to lean on his grapppling.

In terms of a Jones performance, I give him a 7/10. He was gunning for a dec.

In terms of a general performance, aka vs. his contemporaries, it's a 9/10. Dominated a guy who had dominated everyone else, and almost made it look easy. Take away a point for the Eyepoke.

8/10, his wrestling and clinch fighting was impressive, that was Cormiers best chance to win.

    7.

I think he controlled the fight pretty well from start to finish (minus round 2). Not like the Gustafsson fight, where he eventually had to resort to bare grit to edge it out.

But he was a bit flustered in the first rounds, and he wasn't on fire for the last three either. Cormier was one of his toughest opponents ever, but Jones has looked better.

Not sure that was the case, I think Cormier's gameplan was to try and get the best of Jones standing, he only switched to grappling when his cardio didn't hold up. I do think Jones was in danger at a few points in the first couple of rounds without ever looking badly hurt.

Again I think cardio was really the key, Cormier looked to be getting ontop in the 2nd but he couldn't keep up that pace afterwards. Generally I would say this is Jones biggest strength, he slows down a little in face paced match of coruse but has never really looked gassed.

A 7. Honestly thought Cormier might have got a close decision win the way the 1st few rounds went then Cormier just gassed and it all went terribly. Jones was great in the clinch, his kicks were on point but looked a bit vulnerable when on the back foot.

Was absolutely great. 9 for sure. Cormier had never lost a round in his MMA career, ragdolled the shit out of men bigger than him and then Jones made him lose 4 rounds in a single evening while being forced to play Dan's game. Credit to Cormier for being pressing and tough as fuck but Jones was still better at another man's game. Just as he submitted bjj blackbelts Machida and Belfort and outstruck strikers like Shogun, Rampage and Glover. Jones is likely the best ever, seriously, fuck the haters.

    9. To get a 10 he would need to finish DC.

It was okay, did what he had to do to win, but it wasn't his best performance.

Are you guys nuts? Both men looked horrible out there, they seemed tired after the first round. If Jones shows up like that against Gustafsson we will see a new champ.

    Excellent performance. 9/10.

Do people take quality of competition into account at all?

Cormier ran through everyone he had faced up to that point and Jones neutralized the crap out of him.
