How good is he in your opinion? 7 fight win streak and beat the former champ TJ Dillashaw, does he deserve the next shot or does anyone even care at this point?

He needs a tune up fight to prove he's still performing at a high level post-injuries

His rematch with TJ was supposedly going to be the main event of the May 29 Fight Night but TJ was not healthy for that date. He's had bad luck with injuries but he's 1 fight away from a title shot imo.

He's had some injuries and looked very uninspiring against Caraway. He needs to prove that he's ready for that title shot because there are a ton of other guys racking up big wins in the division (Almeida, Garbrandt, Lineker, Sterling, etc.)

Great fighter, but he definitely needs 1 fight before getting a shot. Either Faber (assuming he loses), the Garbrandt/Almeida winner, or the Sterling/Caraway winner (whichever of the 2 does not get the title shot).

1 fight away from titleshot.

He is going to smoke some youngster fighter in order to get it.

He was my bjj instructor....hes solid on ground

fight a top 10 contender, if win then title fight

His english is outstanding, for real. And he is from my city, so I feel obliged to support him.

I remember rooting for him against TJ and he looked pretty good in that fight. I always think he lost to Ross Pearson but that's his older brother Junior lol. maybe give him Macdonald for a TS?

I posted a bit ago in the Garbrandt talking shit about TJ thread about all the 135 contenders (and there are a ton right now - it's awesome) and completely skipped Assuncao - so thank you TD for reminding me. I think he's one top-10 win away from fighting for the belt ... or at least a top-10 win away from fighting a top 2-3 guy for the belt. He is good though - no question.

I would favor TJ in the rematch, but with this long of a layoff - who really knows? It's all speculation.

His post fight speech after the caraway fight is still the single most cringiest moment in the octagon ever.
