Ultimately it was Bidens DOJ that let it go so whatever they had was not apparently criminal. But it doesn't always help in the court of public opinion. Even if Jay-Z is found innocent I'm not sure friends are gonna be sending their teenage daughters to his house and his career damaged.

If there was nothing criminal to even pursue charges and the guy is out then meh... the leaking was political, the push to release was political and the blocking is political. But since he's gone there is no point them fighting further.

If he before serves in public office again, then the file can die with his career. But if he (and let’s be honest, he most definitely will) continue working in the public sector then I think the file should be released
I'm good for whatever is standard practice. If they are always released then release it. If they aren't then don't make exceptions unless the rules are changed. With as little support as he gets from the party I'd be surprised if he comes back but who knows. We will cross that bridge I guess.
