I.e. Those that aren't around anymore. Give your reasons why they meant so much to MMA or to you personally.

1. Pride- pretty self-explanatory. The most important organization in the sports history outside of the UFC. Many people still believe it was THE #1 organization in our sport.
2. Strikeforce- The heavyweight tournament, Diaz vs. Daley, Fedor's fall, some awesome cards.
3. WEC- Always exciting, built alot of great stars
4. Affliction- short lived, but those 2 cards were SERIOUS business
5. IVC- Some awesome, brutal fights. Wanderlei
6. DREAM- good production value, some real fun fights. Fernandes, Zaromskis (when he still mattered)
7. Sengoku- Liked DREAM better, but this was a fun org.
8. IFL- Teams can be fun!
9. Elite XC- Pretty ridiculous but great for the Kimbo freak show aspect
10. Shark Fights- Because sharks rule

WEC is my favorite organization period. So many great fights and memories that encapsulated MMA.

Anyone who doesn't put PRIDE at the top is either dumb or wasn't watching MMA back then.

1 - Pride (best fighting organization of all-time).
2 - Pancrase (yeah, that's right. Funaki, Rutten, Frank and Ken Shamrock, Guy Mezger, Maurice Smith, Yuki Kondo, Semmy Schilt, Genki Sudo, Vernon White, Jason Delucia. Fucking legends).
3 - K1 - Dynamite.
4 - Strikeforce.
5 - WEC.

1. Pride
2. K-1
3. Dream

There was just something mysterious and magical about staying up for those super late night\early events. I loved the commentating with Bas, Mauro, Schiavello, etc... it was just a lot of fun.

Don't get me wrong.. some UFC events are still awesome, like when Brock was HW champ, when Anderson was champ, when Machida was undefeated, when Aldo was a killer (WEC I know)... etc etc.. but still, I miss the production of big JMMA shows.

i miss heros and dynamite shows
those where the days

PRIDE = WEC
Strikeforce
DREAM
EliteXC

But really, UFC, PRIDE and WEC are all I need even if Strikeforce did have some STACKED cards. Those three orgs just put on like, 95% of the most legendary must-see fights in mma history IMO.

i miss the GCM orgs the most. the GCM cage organizations (Cage Force, and DOG) prepared quite a few guys for competing in the UFC/WEC and Cage Force was a lot of fun in its heyday. but the biggest loss to the world was the end of GCM's The Contenders grappling organization.

The Contenders featured a who's who of Japanese MMA stars and pure grapplers, brought together by Caol Uno for some of the most entertaining grappling matches i've ever seen. and the tag matches were just brilliant.

some of the biggest stars of Japanese MMA competing...

takumi yano being a weirdo...

and i mean... the star power was simply overwhelming....

I'm not too familiar with heros or dynamite and couldn't find much on sherdog. could someone tell me a bit about them?

Pancrase is still around. So is Shooto believe it or not. Those two organizations hold events just about every month
