Seriously dude, what a pointless thread. Rank them in terms of WHAT?

Cardio? Ring effectiveness? Cage effectiveness? Street effectiveness? Conditioning? Speed development? Footwork? Power? Concentration? Health benefits?

They are not even all standup arts. JJJ is more grappling than standing and Kung Fu and Ninjutsu have plenty of grappling in them.

Bah.

Ninjitsu gets no love. But arent there 2 kinds? The real kind, and the watered down American version? I heard there is only one real "ninja" left. He's the last living person who knows the complete Ninjutsu discipline.(Japan)

If we're comparing striking arts, why is jiujitsu there?

LOL. thank you. They are also the ones you train right?:icon_chee
I also train boxing, which is my third choice :icon_chee

But seriously, there are SO many factors you can consider when doing rankings like this one.

I honestly think that for MOST purposes, TKD and Judo are among the best martial arts you can study: cardio fitness, self-defense, movement for young and old, sport education in schools, development of body coordination for young people, flexibility, etc.

You could argue that there are arts which are more brutal, or faster to get competent in, or more effective in a no-rules scenario, or something. Just like I said -- there are many different factors and people will use different factors to rank them.

There are very few martial arts which are as FUN as TKD sparring. And that's also a factor.

I think boxing is the best if you want basic stand-up/ self-defense.

A guy in Sambo asked me, "How old are you?" When I told him 36 he laughed and said. I thought you were younger. We're about the same age. At our age we're either going to start visiting the cardiologist or the orthopedist in the near future. Better to keep training and visit the orthopedist.

For the reasons you mentioned above I like the arts I train in. I'm pushing 40 and I want to know I can keep training and having fun well beyond that.

what type of kung fu? there are like 203498923 different types! well not that many but more than 50.
