This thread on the UG is *not* to be missed. The part about the snake had me lol'ing. [edit -- I guess this took place over the weekend, which explains why I hadn't heard it before]. Multiple eyewitness confirmations of the details.

i saw the aftermath of it, with guys chasing him, matches totally disrupted, refs screaming, announcers threatening to stop the whole tournament. the only thing you missed was that it was from this weekend in long beach. if you look at the post again the guy became a member last year but posted this yesterday.

there was also some fracas or heated words between mark laimon and some guy named kevin, but knowing mark, that's not abnormal.

That fight between the two of them was out of control . . . but leo's jiu jitsu looked way more amazing. I guess when you receive that much love from Rickson, you go crazy and start kicking people in the face if they don't bow down to you?

Rani's master is Athaide Jr. He did do some training with Rickson before ADCC 2003, IIRC. But, he's not a Rickson guy, he just did some training with him years ago. People don't seem to want to accept that, because it doesn't fit into the "lol rickson" mold.
 
I'm confused to the whole "...having a lot of Hawaiians and guys from Guam chasing you isn't my idea of fun."? statement. Are the guys from Undisputed from Hawaii and Guam? If not whats the reference anyone know?

Damn those trouble making Hawaiians, oh wait a minute I am Hawaiian, live in Hawaii and lived on Hawaiian homelands, hahahaha.
 
maybe that was the same ref that stole away his victory at ADCC 2005.

someone must have that video... grappling tounaments are taped, right?
 
Sometimes they are taped, sometimes they are not.

Nobody has posted the video of this match yet, which leads me to believe it might not have been taped. However it is hard for me to believe that with that many video cameras there, nobody taped the part where 50 guys were chasing Rani and his boys out of the convention center, while the refs were screaming and such.

Plus who are we kidding, even if Rani's team or the Undisputed team had taped the match, it's not like either of them would necessarily be eager to post it up for everyone to see.
 
Who the hell brings a pet snake to a grappling tournament? In any case, it would be interesting to see what Rani's student thinks of the whole thing.
 
Wow, I thought such outlandish behaviour was striclty reserved for wrestling tournaments/duals :).

Sounds like Rani needs a reality check.
 
Rani should probably bring Team Quest with him next time he goes to a grappling tourney BTW I don't believe this story is true, Rani throwing a high kick....yea right :D
