But the smaller purse matches his shoes and earrings.

I just don't see him being able to replace that.

It was about 10 K as well.

But I don't know if he had to pay for his airfare and hotel + food.

From the read, it sounds like Rafa is not confident.

There's not enough money in Jiu Jitsu to pay him what he thinks he's worth.

Rafa is reigning adcc, mundials and brasilieros champ, all 3 finals he bet cobrinha in - the bargaining power is his, cobrinha needs it (the win) more IMO.

I wonder if the investor group expected this response.

Good job by Mendes, if people really want to see it then they can pay the price. Otherwise they can wait until the world championships for mendes to defend his title.

Boy is he ever. I don't think he wants to risk losing and have all of his detractors proven right especially since this would be a one shot deal. If Cobrinha subs him he would always have to deal with people saying he can only beat Cobrinha by playing for points.

Either that or he is down right delusional and thinks the promoters are going to be making a lot of money of the event.

I don't understand the issue. $10,000 is more than enough. You're a grappler, not a doctor. Deal with it.

well, we all know that some people "unrelated to Alliance" put up the money and it was not a "challenge" at all.

So Rafa replied by giving them back a "slap of the glove".

It was actually quiet funny if you know all the nuances and attitudes of the BJJ BBs!

I honestly don't believe he could beat Cobrinha in a match where there is no time limit and no points. And I like Rafa mendes, but Cobrinha is just better in my opinion.
