Anyone else a fan of racing games? in the last couple of months i've been hooked on playing Rally games and Grand Turismo with a racing game set, a steering wheel, and a mechanical transmission set, shift and pedals, its great and you dont actually kill youself, whats the best racing game you guys like?

I liked Forza 6 but I'm waiting for the new NASCAR game to come out. I hated how 14 played with how aggressive the AI was. I'm hoping the new developers make it more realistic.

Never played a NASCAR game, could be fun im gonna look for a game

The ones for the PS2 were amazing with the career mode. They went away from that with better graphics. I want a happy medium. The EA Sports games are probably the ones you want to start with.

I alwayed enjoyed the GT series and could never get into Fornza. I have the 4 and 5 Fornza but dont get hooked like I did with Apex. I spent forever competely all the shit on Apex, even the marthon races.

Project Cars was supposed to be great buy I didnt like the way the cars handled. Might be better with a steerimg wheel.

I like Assetto Corsa with a wheel. It's very bare bones, but it does what it does really well.
Project cars is cool too. And then you have crazy games for crazy people, like iracing. Never got into that one. People take that shit WAY too seriously for it to be any fun.

Oh, and I played a fair bit of the new dirt rally during steam early access and that's a really solid rally game.

My favorite driving game is probably Trackmania though. Nations forever or 2 stadium. Gonna have to buy Turbo one of these days too. No Star Wars Metallica type dumb shit, but some of the local co-op modes are dumb in new and exciting ways.

Richard Burns Rally is the best rally sim ever released. Oval racing in N2K3 was the best. With Road Courses its a mixture of all the GTR games. The physics of Netkar Pros wingless open wheelers were phenomenal!

GRID and DiRT.

I used to. Then for some reason, I just didn't care about them. Last one I played was "NFS: Hot Pursuit", which was actually pretty fun. I LOVED Burnout all the way up until "Paradise", which killed the franchise as far as I'm concerned. I'll still rock Mario Kart now and then though.

Never was a big fan of sims, though. I think those types of racers require the player to be a gear head to a certain degree, to really enjoy them.

Agree completely, back in the ps1 and 2 days I had lots of racing games, there was a nice variety and they were fun. I think I had a couple the whole time I had a ps3 and I haven't had a full on racing game for ps4 yet.

Tokyo Etreme Racing series was one of my fav street racing seriez. They always had a ton of mods for the cars and they were just pure fun for me.

Did you ever play this back in the day on DOS?

Sold my racing simulator about a month ago. Don't think I would ever play a racing game with a controller again.

Papyrus made some brutally realistic games back in the day, most notably Grand Prix Legends (which simulated 1967 Formula 1 racing).

This thread makes me think of all the quarters I spent playing cabinets like Daytona, Ridge Racer, Sega Rally, San Francisco Rush, Hydro Thunder, etc. Damn I miss arcades. :(

I did not. I wish I did, though. The 2003 version of the game still holds up well with mods.

John Henry bought the source code so Kaemmer could use it to create iRacing. Because of this they came down hard on the mod community if they created any type of mod that altered the executable to prevent reverse engineering of their new title in iRacing.

It all started by EA buying the NASCAR license making Papyrus a dying company. EA's first title was simulator based and endorsed by Dale Jr who was an avid sim racer (i was racing in his top league at the time). At release it became apparent that the EA title was inferior to N2K3 in every way. With Jr's endorsement being financially motivated.

Interesting note. I caught some of the top racers exploiting the game for an advantage in Dale Jr's league. When i brought it up to those placed in charge by Dale Jr they informed me to start doing it myself. So i blew the whistle on them publicly.

Do you guys have any info on the new NASCAR game release? im gonna go Ricky Bobby on it
