Movies R2-D2 pretty much knew everything in the Star Wars universe.

Is R2-D2 the true hero of the Star Wars universe?

Yeah. Continually saves the day. C-3PO, though not without his merits, continually berates him but is far less effective.

Also funny exchange between them on Jabba’s sail barge as I just recently rewatched the scene:

3PO: R2D2 what are you doing here?

R2: beeps

3PO: I know you’re serving drinks!…

I rewatched The Empire Strikes Back recently and wow is it awesome. I’m certainly a fan of Rogue One and have thought highly of ROTS since it came out twenty years ago but I’m just increasingly convinced nothing is as good (and probably nothing will be) as the OT.

Don’t think that’s just nostalgia talking. You compare the OT to the recent trilogy and it’s not even a contest. Best things about TFA are that it fairly successfully pays homage to A New Hope. But rewatching the originals now, they feel like classics. Force Awakens seems redundant. And it’s the best of that newer trilogy.

R2D2 is Star Wars vibe completely

Fun fact about how he was named I just learned (ChatGPT):

"The name R2-D2 comes from "Reel 2, Dialog Track 2", a film editing term used during the production of Star Wars. According to George Lucas, while working on American Graffiti, someone in the sound editing room asked for "R2-D2" as shorthand for that reel and dialogue track. Lucas liked the sound of it and later used it as the name of the astromech droid in Star Wars."

Very nicely said.

R2 is a solid pick but considering he's had his memory wiped about 8000 times, he's like a tard with CTE who can't remember what he did yesterday and it's debatable if he's even the same "person" throughout the movie trilogies. Also he's a service support droid and has never literally sacrificed himself for his friends.

My vote is for K2SO. Spoiler below if you haven't seen Andor S2.

Baby yodas nanny Droid deserves some love too.

KS20 is too much of a ripoff of hk-47

You mean IG-12 from Mandalorian? Was there another droid who sacrificed himself for his buddies and saved the day?

No I mean HK-47 from the knights of the old Republic game. A lot of his personality seems to be similar
For those who haven't played KOTOR, HK-47 is an assassin droid you can recruit in the game, and there's a strong argument he's the best comedic character in the history of Star Wars.

TFA is well a okay. But felt really just like an out of sequence squel nostalgia grab. But still a good Nostalgia film. But the preceding squels, Las Jedis and Rise of Skwalker are just really bad and felt so out of place.

Somehow "Palpatine returned"

What the fuck. They teased us with Snok as the new main leader then get's killed by the Driver then only to bring back Palps? Lazy Lazy writing.
