I'm very new to training and was looking to buy sparring gloves and bag gloves. I was going to buy windy super bag gloves for bag work and I found a decent deal on fairtex professional style sparring gloves but I'm not sure whether it should get 14 or 18 ounce (16s are not available). From what I read 14 ounces may be too small for sparring, I'm about 6'2 205 pounds. Will 18 ounce gloves be too big for me?

Thanks,
Sean

at 205 pounds i'd say get 16 for sparring, especially if you're new to training

Thanks for the response I may end up getting a pair of 16s too. But if you were just going to choose between 14 and 18 which ones would you pick?

Since you're on the bigger end of the spectrum, I'd err on the side of the 18's.

For light contact it won't make a difference.
But a lot of Gyms would require a heavyweight to have at least 16's

18's. I know a 220lb douchbag who wears 14's. Fucker has the never to go full force then complain when you drop a leg kick on him
