How you guys feel about sales tax being added at the end of your bill, not before?

What I mean is that here in Europe all prices have included sales tax, so when you see for example in Burger King a burger for £5.99 then you pay £5.99 at the till.

In US i noticed on the menu burger says $4.99 but when you have to pay, they adding sales tax so ultimately you paying around $5.43 or something like that.

I feel like it would be uncomfortable for me because i often carry set amount of cash with me and when I need for burger, bus ticket at least I can calculate and know how much I gonna pay exactly.

So how it is in US? Is it discomfort for you guys?

Can you please post how it is in your state because some states are different in that matter.

I assume you're talking about sales tax. It varies from state to state. Where I live it's 6%, but food is not usually taxed.

I remember Hillary and Bill Clinton tried to introduce VAT to the U.S. in the 90's and it did not go over well. It backfired against them and did not get instituted.

Most states here already had/have sales tax, which is around 6-8%

Yeah, but I only meant whether it is added in the price on the shelf or at the till.

It is the same thing, its just different term.

Always at the till. It's always been like this so I don't usually even think about it. The only time it really sucks is when you buy a car.

It sucks. Some states dont have sales tax. Oregon for example doesn't and it's just so much easier. They rape you on state tax but still.....it sure feels like you pay a lot less for stuff

I know what you mean. "$19999, DEALS ON THE WHEELS" and when it comes to pay you have to add extra grand or 2 as sales tax ;p

Either dont have or its included like in Europe.

It can't be the same thing because they were trying to add it to the current system, ON TOP of sales tax. Plus it got rejected, so clearly it wasn't the same. Similar, maybe

In good old Crook County Illinois... we pay 9.25 percent sales tax. But that's only the tip of the iceberg in regards to the fees they nickel and dime you with.

i use a credit card so i dont have to carry exact change with me

No sales tax here in Oregon so this isn't an issue.

And you sound stupid, no wonder only 152 likes.
lmao xD ded

i always wished the tax was included on the listed price. would just be easier i imagine idk
but i guess its not big deal either so w/e

It infuriates me so much my whole body shakes with anger, and veins pop out on my forehead. I've found the most rational way to handle it is to kill people randomly.
