i know BJ lost against GSP, and there have been talks of others wanting to be double champ like Pettis & Aldo but the fight never happened, same for Silva harassing GSP.

Pls let me know who other than BJ actually got into the cage and couldn’t get that second belt? It seems more guys have been successful than not?

I still can't believe GSP destroyed BJ like that

One of the most unbelievable performances ever

How many have actually got out of their moms basement?

How many in here actually train or workout?

How many in here are actually happy with their own life?

Well that’s like a very broad question, I don’t know if we’ve statsical evidence to find out.. although for the question I posed, I’m sure sherdog can help me answer ?
So far we now know BJ and Rory tried and couldn’t pull it off.

Conor GSP and DC tried and boom! So.. 3/5?

These are people that fought in championship fights at two weight divisions and failed to get both belts (or even one belt):

Rory Macdonald
Frankie Edgar
Anthony Pettis (challenged Max for the interim FW belt)
Mighty Mouse
Uriah Faber
Kenny Florian
Sean Serk
Vitor Belfort
Dan Henderson (challenged for MW and LHW UFC belts)
Holly Holm
Lyoto Machida
Chael Sonnen

All these people could have been two division champs but failed. I hope holding two belts doesn't become a watered down accomplishment (which it already is), because its an incredible accolade that many fighters have failed to accomplished.

I think BJ is the only one in the UFC to try and fail. But the champ-champ thing is a relatively new phenomenon. There have been a few guys who wanted to do it, but Dana wouldn't let them.

It should also be noted that BJ's the only one who stepped up to fight the GOAT of the higher division. There's a reason GSP wouldn't fight Anderson, and Anderson wouldn't fight Jones. Moving up and fighting someone who is larger AND the GOAT of the higher division is generally not a good idea.

Don't forget Machida.

I think he means at the same time, which is something they haven't really allowed in the less than recent past besides BJ.

You forgot the American gangster Undisputed and undefeated Chael P. Sonnen from West Linn Oregon

why would anyone want to go for 2 belts now when it's almost guaranteed you're losing the 2nd belt due to the ufc's need for belts every other ppv? the belt value is so diminished now it doesn't seem as a big deal anymore, why would it when you know they'll just make an interim in the meantime? too much gold being passed around, not enough build up!
