Was arguing with @DaPunkMinowaMan in another thread and he stated that smith is an all time great and HOF’r. Do you think that 14-14 4-3 UFC Maurice Smith SHOULD BE IN THE UFC HALL OF FAME???

Do you old heads even consider UFC HOF as a legitimate HOF?

One of the first Stand up strikers to really implement tdd and get ups into his game, which allowed him to dictate where the fight went. Prior to him, the wrestlers dictated the where in practically every fight. Was a game changer for the era

With those pioneers, you have to look less at their records and more at what they brought to the game.

He fully deserves his HOF place.

Because I saw him lift a Buick transmission by himself once.

Not sure if that makes him HOF material. But he is a pretty good mechanic.

I agree.

He was the first great striker that also developed a good defensive ground game. He was taken down by Coleman but was able to survive and tire out Coleman in his guard and eventually win the fight.

Not only was he a pioneer but he was a very good fighter period.

Forget the 14 losses. A lot of those came early in Pancrase and RINGS before he knew much grappling and some losses late in his career when he was old. He also fought a lot of really good fighters.

oh and he beat tank abbot who submitted due to exhaustion

The UFC HOF is more like an employee of the month honour/distinction than any real HOF. It is quite literally the least legit HOF I’ve EVER heard of.

So, great if a fighter can make it in. But, I don’t think anybody really gives a shit.
