Just watched this video of Sergio Moraes losing in Grapplers quest to Derek Picinich

Sergio has a single leg at 5:45, Derek dives for a kneebar...but no points for the takedown. Is this correct? He ends up in kneebar position, but sergio quickly gains top position.

    Red had the single leg.
blue attacks with knee bar then switch to heel hook.
    Red defend attacks.
ref gives 1 advantage to blue for submission attempt.

no point given for change of position while defending the sub.

    It seems correct for me.

Hmm, tough call. I think we need a ref to chime in here. I know that if you have a single and someone jumps guard you get points for the take down. In fact, if you are holding a little teeny piece of the pants with two measly fingers and someone jumps guard you get the 2 points as it's seen as the other person trying to "avoid" the takedown. Not sure why "jumping to the kneebar" wouldn't be seen the same way? Difference in IBJJF vs. GQ maybe?

That is correct. He did not get the takedown. It was defended with a kneebar and heel hook attempt. Red's defense of that gave him top position but it was not the takedown attempt that gave him that position. No points for takedown.

In CBJJ rules Sergio should get the 2 points as soon as he escapes the heel hook.
