How did you know you had depression? Versus let’s say you were just sad/low energy for no apparent reason.

I think everyone goes through depression but how do you know when it’s clinical vs just normal?

Also what age were you diagnosed or realize there was a problem? Were you a kid or an adult?

i was diagnosed with depression when i was 12, after i tried to suicide. I was prescribed medication but refused to take it and have been self-medicating with cannabis ever since. It works great , plus having a lot of friends and fun job and hobbies helps as well.

If you are experiencing depression I recommend spending time outdoors and with friends, get plenty of sunshine, exercise, and cannabis. Give those things a good try before you take the pharmaceutical path.

everyone feels depressed sometimes but clinical depression is worse and typically lasts longer or can be permanent. It is also genetic and can be passed down to one’s children i believe.

I guess it's when I realized it when this sinking feeling of hopelessness started to creep in my early teens and everybody said I'll grow out of it, but it didn't after more than a decade. I'm in my 30s now and shit still sucks and I can't really think of a good reason to stay alive.

It's sometimes a problem, and sometimes it's a crutch, and sometimes it's actually a super power because you can start to really live when you stop giving a fuck.

They told me I was depressed the first time I went to rehab but fuck that noise tbh. Life just sucked balls and I had no tools for dealing with it. Things are fine now tho everyday can still be a struggle.

Are you depressed op?

No I just have impulse control/compulsion issues that could probably be mistaken for depression.
For most people life just never turns out how you want it lol

life only throws curve balls which makes it so exciting. If things turned out how I wanted I would be teaching American Military History right now.

Now I am a former Prom Dress Mogul, Pro Gamer, Vintage Furniture Restorer, and Lego Salesman. And that is just the last 5 years....

if you cannot get out of bed thats kind of the hallmark of depression, but you would need a mental health professional like a psychiatrist with clinical experience to diagnose you and ideally you would have a chemical imbalance in your brain that lifestyle, habits, and regular therapy wouldnt be able to fully treat but its more of an art than a science in reality even at this point in the game in 2022 one of your best bets is to eat magic mushrooms and try to have a positive attitude

It's funny, I've been going through a bit of shit because I've quit weed after 25 years of heavy usage.

I had to get a life coach who I vibed with to help me deal with it. Realized I had a lot of trauma and pain from childhood I never learned to cope with. Every year I'd find myself in some state of depression and stress.

It really is a shitty feeling waking up and going to sleep like that. There are also numerous causes including relationship, finances, career, just where you are in life, etc.

I suggest getting help cause you'll most likely have no clue as to how to navigate around it. Every person is different and not every scenario works. What worked for me was getting back into the things I enjoyed doing but lost the passion for. I got outside more often. I'd go to bed earlier and wake up earlier. I cut off social media for long stretches through out the day, only using it for work. I read a positive or helpful book every night for at least 45 mins before bed. I quit drinking or any other kinds of hallucinogens. Started working out 6 days a week and eating clean.

I chose to make a complete change in all aspects of life and its been working for me. Depression can literally kill you. I've seen it break people down to the point they don't want to go on anymore. People won't even notice cause everyone's caught in the same rat race.

The one thing is, if you want things to change you have to take it upon yourself to begin that process.

Realized it when I finally signed up on Sherdog.

time and experience usually, unless you have a more severe case that shows itself undeniably. For me it took many years to realize just how crazy I am.

While cannabis works for you, it can have a very negative effect on other people Some people get very paranoid and uncomfortable with weed.
Glad it's doing you good though!

That's the textbook definition of depression, so it's very strange that you frame that as "versus" depression.

I think he was trying to differentiate "situational depression" or "stress response syndrome" which most people experience at some point with severe persistent clinical depression and just didn't know exactly how to describe it.

You getting lots of physical exercise?
Pussy helps too.

I quit smoking weed a few years ago when I quit cigarettes. I won't smoke or value anything out of fear that the smoking urges will return.

I like gummies though, but they aren't the same stone.
