Question about tax return

I'm going to upgrade our TV in the living room. Right now we're got a 65" LG 4K OLED that we bought this past summer in there but ever since then, I've wished that we'd gotten the 75" instead. So I'm getting the 75" today & moving the 65" into our bedroom.

Your refund is basically what is withheld from your paycheck vs. what you should have paid in taxes. A lot of people try to break even or close to it. Essentially they are getting a bigger paycheck each week than they would have if they got a return. It's a smart strategy as a refund is essentially an interest free loan. I used to be set up to break even when we were first married. Now that we have three kids and I haven't changed shit, we get a decent sized refund.
I kind of screwed up a little bit this year and overpaid by a lot. It's dumb because yeah interest free loan, but I kind of like the surprise of getting a big chunk of money. I haven't changed it for this next year yet, but I probably should at some point.

Tax makes people poor, that's why successful businessmen don't pay taxes.
