Apologies for the slightly weird question, but I have been trying to work out how big (physically) Rumina Sato was? I wasn't a fan in those days, and have been watching some of his fights.

In his bouts with Caol Uno, a LW, the two men looked about the same size. And he has fought for titles at 154lbs and 143lbs.

But what confused me was that the Sherdog fighter page http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Rumina-Sato-421 classes him as a BW.

Once again, apologies for the strange question.

Probably because his last fight against Tokoro was at 135
He was dropping down, started at WW (Shooto 155), then LW (Shooto 145) at that last fight I mentioned (VTJ 135)

He was at LW most of his career, dropped to FW after the Melendez fight, and then to BW after the Lion Takeshi fight. His last fight was at BW which is why Fight Finder has him listed as such.

Physically he always was probably about average BW size

Thanks guys, I appreciate you taking the time.

I've seen him at BJJ tournaments and by UFC standards he's the size of a flyweight.

In today's world, he's a bantamweight just like Yamamoto. Those guys fought the majority of their career at 155 simply because that was what was available.

Rumina's excuse for not signing with UFC was he was too small for 170. They didn't have a lighter category.

In 2001, UFC created new light weight division at 155. After getting his name mentioned many times by Goldberg, Rumina paid a visit to UFC venue which looked to PPV viewers a promise that he will land in UFC very soon.

Didn't happen. I think his submission loss at ADCC previous year affected his decision.
