Hey guys, I got Everlast 8 oz. Sparring Gloves around a month ago and have realized that they're getting pretty smelly. Do you guys have any tips for taking care of something like that? Thanks a lot.

I normally recommend glove dogs - but being that we are out of stock on them - I will give you an old secret of mine:

Fabric softner sheets. i keep them in my gym bag and often times I'll put them inside my boxing gloves. Works pretty well - not as well as glove dogs, but it's effective.

After every training session, you should take your gloves out of your equipment bag, and spray lysol inside them. Then hang them up too dry out inside. You should wipe all exterior surfaces with disinfectant wipes.

Wipe them inside and out with alcohol based hand wipes after every use.

Thanks for all the tips guys. I never realized how badly was taking care of my gloves. I just wiped the inside with disinfectant wipes, I never knew how to take care of the inside. I just ordered some Glove Dogs and I'll be sure to clean them out better, too. Thanks.

thanks I was just noticing how bad my gloves are and wondering if I can get cooties from the things. I thought the only thing I could do was throw them away and start over

i hit mine up with axe body spray. I think it's mostly alcohol based, which wipes out the germs, and every time you punch, you get a whiff of long island douche bag, and that should make you wanna punch harder.

I use tube socks stuffed with a mix of baby powder and cedar chips. My gloves are honestly odor free. I tried only cedar chips and then switched to only baby powder, but the combination works perfectly.

Wait, did you say 8 oz sparring gloves?

Er, regardless of that typo (I hope), I'd say plus one for Glove Dogs. Good pick.

They are 8 oz. sparring gloves, but I use them for pad work for the sake of my training partners. I have no idea why Everlast would even think of making 8 oz. sparring gloves.

My gloves were starting to smell bad so i ordered a new pair of fairtex gloves. Just before the fairtex came through the post i thought i'd put my leather gloves in the wash just out of curiosity. Didn't matter if they were gonna get messed up as i was going to chuck the out anyway and to my surprise they came out really good. No odours at all and leather stayed in tact so i've carried on usinng them.
