I've been reading through the FAQ and came upon the 'homemade creatine' thread. I just have one question that wasn't really cleared up by the article.
Creatine should be taken with dextrose which is a simple carb, so my question is rather than go through the trouble of mixing your own dextrose drink, couldn't you just supplement the appropriate amount of banana (also a good source of simple carbs)? Banana tastes better, goes better with shakes and just seems to me to be an overall better (well, at least more natural source) source of simple carbs.
So I guess what my question is does it matter what goes with the creatine? Does it have to be dextrose or can it be pretty much any simple carb you can find?

Dextrose is ideal. Just buy some gatorade powder, mix it with some creatine monohydrate and drink after your workout.

The problem with using fruit is that it is mainly Fructose which doesn't have the same insulin response that something like dextrose has.

That and he's going to have to mix the creatine with water anyway, might as well throw a scoop of gatorade in there.
