question about doing squats, dl, bp?

Hi guys, im a total newb when it comes to weightlifting for significant gains. I was reading sherdogs strongets man competiton and some guys are putting up huge numbers for not being that big at all. I am wondering is there a specific regimen to follow? should i quit doing all isolation workout and start doing more shit like deadlifts?? just curious, i will be playing rugby this summer and am looking for a regimen that gives serious power increases. Not looking for a miracle just the best way to get to my goals.

I am looking to be significantly stronger overall, Im right now overweight and have been back working out with my friend for over a month now. I am 250 right now and can only bench 220. dopnt know max squat and have never done deadlifts. I want to be powerful because im going to be playing rugby wiht a travel team. so i just want the most gains from my workout and on these forums ppl talk alot about deadlifts and compound workouts, so im wondering if i should get away from what ive been doin?

I have been getting stronger since working out but for my size im way below where i should be.

my goals are simply to be fats and explosive. and ver strong. i want to be able to bench closer to 300 by the summer (this is just a goal, i dont know if ts feasible) and squat alot (do not know what a good measure of this is) basically be better at everything lol.
 
Def stop the isolation exercises and focus on compound movements. Have you looked in the Stickes? Theres programs in there for anyone to follow. I recommend checking them out. Everyone seems to like the 5x5. I myself have been doing them with good results.

buddy thats what it said i was banned for but commited not such offense, and yet guys like u who post whore all day are allowed to roam free so theres sherdog for you
